The first layers of snow on Tuesday, mid-morning.

Early Tuesday evening, CA students got the call they had been hoping for: the automated message announcing that Collegedale Academy will be closed tomorrow, Janurary 29th, due to the snow that has blanketed that the Chattanooga area.
This cancelation comes in light of today’s early dismissal and dangerous driving conditions as a result of the snow and ice.
“Within just three hours of coming home today, I witnessed seven car accidents,” senior Mia Spicer says, “right outside my bedroom window.”
Because of weather forecasts, many did not expect snow in Collegedale.
“Personally, I did not think we would have any snow,” says freshman Noah Banks, “because weather reports said that snow would fall in all southern states but Tennessee.
“But when I saw all the snow coming down, I was amazed,” Banks continues. “I could not believe all the ice and snow that had accumulated.”
According to reactions through social media, students seem to be happy with the day off. When asked about her opinion of the snow day, junior Amanda Escandon says, “I’m excited! I’ll take any day off of school that I can get!”
