While CA has had a cross country team for years, this year was the first under new coach, Mr. Lawson. According to Mr. Lawson “ team morale was low as they were coming
back from a bad season the year prior”. Several times throughout the season Mr. Lawson has mentioned that the runners have passed their personal goals. He has remarked about the improvement of his runners during our interview. Practices seem to kick up the gears on training for regionals and the future as a whole.
Regionals grace the fastest runners with a chance to make state and represent our school. Mr. Lawson said in our interview that he believes several people on the team have the potential to make it to state. Desire of facing regionals led up to Tuesday November 29th. Additionally after regionals ended the team met up at Olive Garden to congratulate the team in their overall placing and to support those who made it to state. Anika Bujak made state this Tuesday by getting tenth during regionals. She didn’t let us down as she placed 40th out of 75 people across the state.
