  1. Approximately 7 million people call in sick or don’t show up to work the day after the Super Bowl.
  2. The Super Bowl is the second-most-watched sports game, right after the World Cup.
  3. 80% of all Super Bowl tickets are sold to the corporate sponsors of the NFL and the Super Bowl.
  4. 1 out of 12 people watch the game for the commercials.
  5. Tickets to the first Super Bowl were only $6. Cheap seats to this year’s game are upwards of $300.
  6. In America, Super Bowl Sunday is second for food consumption, right after Thanksgiving.
  7. During the first Super Bowl, NBC accidentally missed the taping of a kickoff, so the whole play was reset for the cameras.
  8. Not only do the players get rings for the Super Bowl, but the referees do too.

  10. The Super Bowl 50 stadium has a green roof. A unique feature of the stadium is a green roof atop the suite tower. The green roof is 27,000 square feet and provides building insulation and 16 species of vegetation native to the Bay Area.
