Here are some quick facts about some promised and potential 2016 presidential candidates. Read carefully and be ready to make an informed decision or to influence someone else’s next year.
Ted Cruz (R) – Texas Senator
- In favor of preventing Iran from acquiring any nuclear weapons
- Supports Hobby Lobby’s stand against providing contraception in their employers’ health benefits
- Wants to strengthen boarder security and keep welfare benefits from batting to illegal aliens
Jeb Bush (R) – Former Governor of Florida
- Supporter of the Common Core
- Regarding immigration, Jeb Bush hopes to create opportunities for citizenship and residency
Rand Paul (R) – Senator of Kentucky
- String supporter of the Second Amendment
- Aims to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
- In favor if cutting spending in all states
Marco Rubio (R) – Florida Senator
- For protecting seniors from identity theft
- Believes in forming a tax deduction on education
Mark Everson (R) – Former IRS Commissioner
- Supports sale of insurance across state lines
- Proponent of the Competitive Tax Plan that will eliminate millions of Americans from paying an income tax
- Hopes to bring about an amendment to limit presidents so they only serve four years
Hillary Clinton (D) – Former Secretary of State
- Pro same-sex marriage
- Supporter of state-level marijuana legalization
- “Inclined” to support the Keystone XL Pipeline’s construction
Martin O’Malley (D) – Former Governor of Maryland
- Opposed to the the death penalty
- Likely in favor of raising the minimum wage because of his raising Maryland’s minimum wage to $10.50
Jim Webb (D) – Former Virginia Senator
- Initiated and passed the Post 9-11 GI Bill that provides up to 36 months of education benefits for those eligible
- Was against the Iraq and Libya invasions
