A new year is officially well under way, and with everyone turning over a new leaf, it’s comforting to witness social media continue its petty antics. Here are 3 trends that prove social media is an ever changing mass of ridiculousness, even in the new year.
6’5 Guy
Twitter nation rolled into 2015 with its first trend about a guy who honestly believed that him being 6’5 was the best thing that ever blessed the world since Jesus. For a time, his page consisted of mirror selfies with captions that spoke of his 6’5-ness in totally irrelevant contexts. Twitter users ridiculed him for not actually being six foot five and for simply being irritating, but 6’5 Guy (@therealhoward_) got the last laugh, acquiring enough fame to soar him up to a whopping 101,000 followers.
Bath Bombs
Emerging out of thin air, bath bombs made a splash on all social media sites with girls posting photos of their bath bombs at work. Soon users came to their senses realizing how insanely laughable the trend was and created mock bath bomb posts using backpacks, puppies, and even celebrities.
Shawn Oakman
Being six foot nine, 250 pounds, and intensely intimidating won defender Shawn Oakman the title of “Command” on Twitter. In other words, no one disagrees with Oakman on Twitter, and likely in real life as well judging by the meme’s photos.
