On Sunday, November 9, 2014, Collegedale Academy senior Megan Thompson received the George Washington medal for her entry into the Freedoms Foundation essay contest.
Criteria for the paper included forming an outstanding essay that conveys the author’s dedication to American history.
In April, Megan attended a leadership conference at Valley Forge to further her knowledge on American history and the Freedoms Foundation.
Following that, she attended a banquet for the committee in May and was awarded, along with the other students that attended, a Good Citizenship award for upholding great values.
Mrs. Ester Taj, the former president of the Chattanooga charter, has invited Megan to speak to students throughout the South in the coming months regarding her time spent at Valley Forge.
