Lady Eagles Journey to Union Tournament

With their regular season over, the Lady Eagles’ volleyball team travels to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska for the Union College Invitational Volleyball Tournament 2013.  The tournament lasts the duration of CA’s fall break and some games will be webcast by Union College.
The Eagles certainly have big shoes to fill this year after last year’s team won the Championship.  Eagles’ coach Molli Paige says she thinks the team has a strong chance at winning, but that it’s hard to say because there are many new teams this year and completion is always stiff.  She believes that the toughest part will be maintaining a “game-play mentality” and fighting through ruts in a game.  She adds that the team will also need to continue passing well to be successful.
Although the goal is to win, the Tournament is always much more than that.  Junior Gabby Fowler said her favorite part of Union is always all the food available to eat. She added, “We make our best memories when we’re in the lounge together.”  Coach Paige said her favorite part of Union was all the girls staying in one room, adding, “it’s a lot of fun when everyone’s really hyper.” She also said the team has really bonded in the past few weeks, just in time for Union.
This year’s team has all the pieces to bring home another championship.  However, whether they win or lose, the Lady Eagles are sure to have a grand time and create lasting memories and grow as a family.
