- What God Hath Joined
What God Hath Joined by Patty Froese Ntihemuka is a beautiful illustration that you can’t separate what God has destined to be together. Nithemukas book is an Adventist book that inspires young readers to remember what God has ordained from the beginning, marriage and the Sabbath. This romance does have some mystery and plot twists which makes it all the better! A young girl starts to receive letters from a secret admirer years after her divorce, but who could it be? This book is sold online on the Adventist Book Center website.
2. Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a classic romance book written by Jane Austen. This book is about the five Bennet sisters, but mainly focuses on Elizabeth Bennet’s love interest. We take a dive into Elizabeth’s and Mr. Darcy’s complicated love story, and as they learn about society’s social expectations. Elizabeth learns to not make judgements on people so quickly, and to look deeper than what’s on the outer appearance of someone. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves a good enemies to lovers trope!
3. Persuasion
Persuasion is another classic by Jane Austen which is about a second chance love trope. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth decide to rekindle their love after years of silence, regret, and yearning. Persuasion shows how Anne was persuaded into not marrying Wentworth, her first love, but then years later regrets it after he has already left. My favorite quote in this book is “I am half agony half hope.” This novel is a bit of a slow burn, but reading it is definitely worth the outcome.
4. Heaven Sent
Heaven Sent by Amanda Bews is an inspiring Adventist book on how God can turn any problem into His grand plan for us. Heaven Sent is a romance about Heaven’s perfect life, or so it seems. One drunken mistake changes everything in Heaven’s future. Heaven learns what true love really is, and how God can take away people from us, because He knows what lies in our future. This book can be bought on the Adventist Book Store online.
5. Little Women
My last top read would be Little Women by Louisa May Alcott about the five March sisters and their adventures. The themes of this book are love and sacrifice for each other and for their friends and spouses. It shows how the mother and daughters struggle a bit after their father leaves for the Civil War, but the family ends up growing close together supporting each other’s ambitions. This book does have some romance that I will not spoil! The main point is that we should be grateful for all our blessings and people that God has given us.
