During this year’s week of prayer, CA invited pastor Chris Morris for an exciting journey through Ephesians. For CA students, week of prayer is a worship series led by a guest speaker that takes place each semester. This year’s theme was the armor of god, illustrated by Pastor Chris telling the story of Paul.
The amazing praise team began by welcoming the speaker with songs like “We are Soldiers” and the theme song, “The Goodness of God.” Then, after an incredible song service, the pastor was brought up for prayer, officially starting the program. For his services, Pastor Chris would tell great stories that were seemingly random but then he would connect them to the armor of God told through Paul’s perspective.
One of his messages was based on Ephesians 6:10-20 where Paul tells the people of the church to stand strong in God, to use his strength and trust it through dark times. He explained that all worries and struggles are spiritual battles against the deceiver and God. Paul shows us that by ourselves, we can’t conquer struggles, but instead put on the armor of God and He will defend you. In fact one quote really made me focus in Ephesians 6: 12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Pastor Chris also took the time to visit Bible classes and connect with the students, answering any questions he could about their spiritual walks. Overall, it was a great week and everyone was blessed by his message. He taught several of our current students who transferred here from Mile High Academy. Jacob Peterson, a former student of Mr. Morris states, “ He was always very involved and you could tell that he cared about his students. One of my favorite memories with him was arguing and bragging about how my favorite football team, the Chiefs, would always whoop on his team, the Raiders.” While he visited the classrooms around the school he answered many questions about his life and stories.
In conclusion, the week of prayer brought a serious tone to a lively week and made everyone think how they could put on the armor of god. A quote to show the appreciation of the students was given by freshmen class president Lucas Guajardo. Lucas states “ He showed us to trust God beyond personal wishes, to put worries and miss fortunes in God so he may relieve you of the burden and strengthen you in a whole.”
