Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously

Grace-Ann Hawthorne, Writer

Often, I find myself feeling stressed out about the weird, embarrassing mistakes I make. Once, at a restaurant, the waiter dropped off my food and said to me, “Enjoy your food.”

In response, I said, “You too!”

She, without thinking, said thank you, and we both started laughing at how embarrassing the encounter was.

Ever since I was young, I have turned my embarrassment into humor and learned to not take myself too seriously. Sometimes it is important to have a serious approach, but little mistakes shouldn’t be worried over. Make it a story you can laugh about!

Instead of digging your own grave through your mistakes, take yourself out of the situation and laugh as though you were laughing at your friends. It helps the issue go away faster, and you can move on with your day.
