Happy Little Life: Stress cure

Leanne Eckhart, writer

Just the other day I came home with a backpack full of rocks, or should I say textbooks, and drooping eye bags. As I sagged onto the couch the thought of homework made my stomach churn, and instead of starting I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke with a slight tugging of my hair. My cat, Fiona, found her way to lay beside my head and started to chew on my hair. As soon as I lifted my head, she turned into a roaring purr ball; she wrapped around my arm again and again, begging for attention. A grin emerged on my tired face, and I couldn’t help but to laugh. Her act of yearning friendship lifted my spirits and gave me the motivation to conquer my stressful homework.

The carefree, stress-free life of an animal can’t help but to rub off on their human companions — lifting their moods.

So, next time you are stressful day and feel overwhelmed go walk your dog or snuggle your cat, and trust me, your day will drastically improve.
