God gives courage and a calling
October 17, 2017
Have you ever felt God calling you to do something? To give a chapel talk or to pray with a friend in need? Many times I feel like God is calling me to do something, but instead of graciously putting it into action, I instead tell Him that I am not fit for the job. I tell Him that there must be some other better person to speak His message.
Jeremiah 1 provides a clear answer to this dilemma. Verse 5 states, “Before I shaped you in the womb I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you” (MSG).
Wow. Isn’t that verse so amazing? When I recently rediscovered it after a stressful week, I really felt God’s peace come over me. I realized that God has our lives all planned out. He has created unique talents for us that He wants us to share!
If you still have doubts, go on and read verses 7 and 8: “I’ll tell you where to go and you’ll go there. I’ll tell you what to say and you’ll say it. Don’t be afraid of a soul. I’ll be right there, looking after you” (MSG).
God will tell us what to say and where to go, and on top of that, He will be right there with us the whole time! So what are we waiting for? God has given us a task to complete, and He will be there with us every inch of the way.
