Lack of motivation: Something we all suffer from at one time another.
Finding motivation is especially at this time of year, with Spring Break being our only relief during the long stretch until summer vacation.
Some symptoms of lack of motivation include procrastination, low energy levels, failure to accomplish goals, and the general feeling of “I don’t care.”
But don’t be discouraged! Here are some tips to keep your motivation up and make it through the rest of the school year.
Tip #1 – Break out your planner or make lists
Using a planner can help you organize what needs to get done in a day, improve your productivity, and relieve stress. Writing things down is proven to help get tasks done and free up brain space.
Tip #2 – Go out in nature
Plan ahead and set aside a portion of time to just go on a walk or hike outside, either by yourself or with friends. Breathing in the fresh air and enjoying God’s handiwork can help you gain a new perspective. Scientists also say that seeing green relieves stress and can help get your mind back on track.
Tip #3 – Look up motivational quotes
Sometimes when you’re feeling down, some words of motivation can provide the willpower to get back up again. Here are several quotes to jumpstart your motivation.
“Even if you are on the right track you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” -Will Rogers
“The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem. Do you understand?” – Captain Jack Sparrow
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” -Earl Nightingale
“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” -Martin Luther King
Tip #4- Take care of yourself
Often we get so focused on all the work we have to do that we forget to take care of ourselves. Getting enough sleep, about 7-8 hours, is extremely important in order to be motivated and focused in school. Sleep, paired with eating healthy and taking care of your body, will make you feel renewed and ready to take on the rest of the year.
