5 tips to make exercise more enjoyable
February 17, 2017
- Use your exercise time to go out in nature
People sometimes say, “Oh, working out is so boring.” Of course it’s going to be boring staring at a blank wall in a stinky gym. Going outdoors to exercise brings an element of excitement into a session. You never know what you’ll see.
- Take music with you wherever you go to workout
Music not only helps to set a pace, but it can also help us to maintain motivation.
- Pace yourself
The most important thing to remember when working out is to listen to your body. Start with less strenuous exercise at first, then gradually add to your routine.
- Work out with friends
Work out with friends that will keep you accountable and won’t let you quit. A friend that is at a higher level of fitness will make you want to push yourself and test your limits. Working out with a friend will also build a stronger relationship with that person because you are accomplishing a goal with him or her.
- Use your workout time to also walk with God
Paul writes in Romans 12:1 (MSG), “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” We should be able to include God in every aspect of our life, even our workout life. He desires for us to be the best version of ourselves.
