Happy Little Life: Go for a run
January 30, 2017
The life of a teen is stressful. On top of all the tests, projects, and homework that come with school, we have our social, spiritual, and family lives to take care of as well. Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed with life that I can’t even think clearly.
One remedy that I’ve found that works is to get up and go for a run. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a world class athlete—I know I’m not. You can run, walk, jog, or skip, whatever works for you, but there is just something about being outside in the fresh air and getting your heart rate up that is calming.
The rhythmic sound of feet hitting the pavement and the feeling of taking deep breaths in and out helps me to clear my head and get focused. It leaves me feeling refreshed, healthy, and ultimately happier.
Running is also great for when you’re feeling depressed, angry, or upset. It gives you time to think deeply about the situation you’re in and find a reasonable way of dealing with it rather than jumping to conclusions.
So next time you feel like you’re stretched beyond your limits, or you feel totally overwhelmed—get up, go outside, and run.
