Ten ways to keep one’s self occupied on a Midwest road trip

Devin Vaudreuil, writer

  1. Take lots of books.
  2. Sleep is good. And the best part is that the scenery will be the same when you wake up.
  3. Count the number of tractors you see. There are a lot.
  4. Visit McDonald’s frequently.
  5. Sleep more.
  6. And some more.
  7. Talk to your mom. That’s always interesting.
  8. Sprawl out in the backseat and (you guessed it) sleep.
  9. Eat snacks.
