Cast your burdens on Him
November 8, 2016
As a kid, I remember singing the song “Cast Your Burdens” at vacation bible school. I had such fun singing and clapping to the music, even though, as a four-year old, I didn’t fully understand the lyrics.
The main chorus of the song was, “cast your burdens on Jesus, for he cares for you.”
The amount of activities, projects, and homework that have come my way lately reminded me of this song. Psalm 68:19 says, “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens” (NIV).
Often, we seem to say, “Jesus loves you! He died on the cross for you!” But what is usually overlooked, is the fact that he died with all the burdens of the world on his shoulders. We don’t fully grasp the idea of how much suffering and pain HE went through for US. He picked up all of our sins, our flaws, and our failures, and He gave up his life so that we can have a better one.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
God gave us this verse to realize that throughout all our troubles, he’s there.
I encourage you to talk to Jesus and cast your burdens upon the cross. He’s the one person who can take the stress of daily life away and strengthen you for the trials ahead. Cast your burdens on Jesus, for HE truly cares for you.
