On October 20, the CAYA boys’ soccer team played their championship game against Maryville at Finley stadium. The team was expecting to play their longtime rivals GCA; however, GCA lost to Maryville Christian 4-1.

Before the game began, players were ecstatic: “we’re going to play hard and take home a win!” Team Captain Chad Nash said.

Unfortunately for CAYA, the game was not in their favor.

“The referees were unfair and biased,” Senior Garrett Howe said.

The game was tied at 2-2, and the teams were forced to enter into penalty kicks. After several impressive shots, Maryville took home the win.

“If we won every game; we wouldn’t play,” Coach Attle said.

The team refuses to give up hope, however, and is looking forward to dominating at NACA from October 25-29.
