On Sunday, September 25, senior Devin Vaudreuil will be the youngest athlete competing in the 2016 Chattanooga Ironman.

The race consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run.

Vaudreuil has been a runner for many years and decided to push himself with a triathlon.

“When I realized that my body could take so much more, I signed up for the Ironman,” Vaudreuil said.

He has been training for this event since early spring by swimming early in the mornings and biking in the afternoons.

Family is really what brought Vaudreuil into this competition: His dad has been running Ironman races for years, and family vacations often revolved around the triathlons.

Family also plays a role in this race, as Devin will race along with his father and uncle.

“I’m ready to get out there,” Vaudreuil said.
