5 Tips to Surviving Freshman Year
August 23, 2015
1) “Get involved!” -Cameron Gustman
That is something you probably hear a lot, but it makes the high school experience so much more memorable! Don’t be afraid to try out for sports, run for a class officer position, or participate in student association events. You may not make it into everything or enjoy the activity, but at least you gave it a try.
2) “Ask questions!” -Jessie Bell
Don’t be afraid to talk to your teachers if you don’t understand something. They are here to help.
3) “Don’t be cocky!” -Paul Liriano
It is typical to enter high school thinking that you are the next big thing, but arrogance will not get you anywhere.
4) “Try your best!” -Rebecca Ford
Accept that you will not be great at everything. Life is about trying on different costumes to see what fits best. You may work really hard at a sport and still not make the team or work really hard in a class and still not get that “A.” You cannot succeed in everything, but it is important to still keep working hard.
5) “Don’t be afraid of being yourself!” -Mattie Sue Nafie
It is easy to get caught up in your friend group and lose yourself by trying to act like everyone else. Be who you are! Say what you want to say, do what you want to do, and act how you want to act. If someone has a problem with who you are, then they are not worth your time. The people who mater are the ones who will accept you for you.
