Select Group of Band Musicians to Attend Honors Festival
A select group of band members are traveling to Washington Adventist University from February 12th to the 16th to participate in the university’s annual Honors Band Festival. This year’s group of musicians was personally chosen by CA Band and Orchestra director, Mr. Lindquist, and then confirmed by the festival coordinator and conductor.
Together with many other talented musicians from academies all over the North American Division, the students will participate in clinics taught by professors and local musical professionals, as well as rehearse rigorously under the direction of Craig Mohr.
The band students will also take time off their schedule to tour monuments in downtown Washington, D.C.
The several days will conclude with a performance on Friday, February 14th at Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, and another on Sabbath, February 15th at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church.
“This opportunity is an excellent education experience for students,” says Mr. Lindquist. “They will benefit from other students and will also be receiving professional attention for their specific instrument.”
“The whole trip is so much fun,” says saxophonist Brian Wright. “It has an intense, upbeat atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to it.”
