“[This is] one of my family’s favorite fall recipes!” – Mrs. Nafie

Apple Strudel

Base:

  • Granny Smith (or tart) apples, enough to fill a baking dish (about 9)
  • 1 stick of butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar

Topping:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

Slice the apples and layer in a 9×13 baking dish, filling the dish. Dot the apples with butter squares. Sprinkle the apples generously with cinnamon and sugar.

Mix together sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder and add the egg, stirring until mixture is crumbly. Put the topping over the apples and bake at 350 F until golden brown, about 35-45 minutes. Serve warm with cream, ice cream, or whipped cream!
