Happy Little Life: Bake cookies

Happy+Little+Life%3A+Bake+cookies

Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.”-Barbara Jordan

I was recently prompted by my life skills teacher, Mrs. Marquez, to dig up some of my favorite family recipes. Much to my delight, I found my Aunt Karen’s Snickerdoodle cookie recipe in the midst of an old recipe card box. The stained, wrinkled card and bleeding ink brought back many happy memories from my childhood.

Going through old recipes sparks meaningful conversations with those around us. The act of making food promotes creativity and yields a rewarding outcome that everyone can enjoy.

Call your grandma or sit down with your mom—make their day and get special secret recipes.

Then go bake some cookies, savor the memories, and take a nap.
